Submission Guidelines

Acta Oeconomica Universitatis Selye is a scientific journal of Faculty of Economics at J. Selye University in Komárno, registered at Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic with registration code EV 4538/12 and ISSN code 1338-6581, e-ISSN 2644-5212. The journal is published twice a year, focusing on scientific submissions of high quality. The scientific journal welcomes scientific work related to the field of Economics, Management and Marketing, Trade and Business, Quantitative Methods and Statistics, Managerial Psychology, Applied Ethics. Submissions of authors are sent via mail in Word.docx using Windows operation system, letter type – Times New Roman 12, single line spacing (1). The paper should not exceed 12 pages, in case of reviews 3 pages, scientific reports should be maximum 3 pages as well. Math formulas should be written clearly in corresponding editor. By submitting the manuscript authors confirm originality of their work and agree with publication of their paper in printed and electronic form. Papers from domestic and abroad authors are accepted only in English language. Submissions accepted have not been published or asked for publishing yet. Paper submitted to publisher is reviewed by two independent reviewers (system of double blind peer-review is used). Author of the submission is responsible for the formal and professional accuracy of the work and by submitting the paper/article confirms the respect of publication ethics. Editorial Board of the journal will decide whether to publish the submission or not, considering the professional peer review, quality of the article and the scientific importance of it. Author is informed about review results via mail. If paper is not accepted for publication, the editorial of the scientific journal is entitled to archive the manuscript. There is no legal claim to publish in the scientific journal.

The journal is free of publication charge.

Title – short, clear information about the content of work. First comes the title in Slovak language followed by the English title.

Author(s) – name and surname of the author(s) is indicated who contributed to the submission. The academic degree of author(s) is not submitted. The workplace of author(s) is indicated in the next line.

Abstract in English – the abstract should settle the research targets and contains short description of research as well as results and summary. The abstract should not be longer than 10 lines and must be coherent and understandable without reference to the article. All the references to the author should be made in third person, the first sentence must avoid the repetition of the title. The subject of the research should be emphasized and the summary should include the applied methods and new facts.

Key words in English – use no more than 5 words in English with small letters.

JEL Classification – a standard method of classifying scholarly literature in the field of economics – http://www.aeaweb.org/jel/guide/jel.php.

 Introduction – the introduction should provide overview of related research papers and work, proper references to bibliography, providing information about recent research in field of study. The introduction part should not include subchapters.

Material and Methods – this part should include  proper subchapters describing the methods and steps applied. Enough detail about methods should be provided to revise the steps described. It is necessary to cite methods from adequate literature applied in research.

Results and Debate – results should be presented briefly in charts, enough facts should be provided to support conclusion. Do not present the same information in different forms (charts, graphs, text). Debate part of the work should emphasize the new piece of information received through research compared with the existing results in the field studied.

Charts, photos and graphs should be transparent, a legend should be added to maps. Graphs and charts must be presented in original form (e.g. xls.)

Bibliography

Author is responsible for the literature cited and accuracy of information used. Submitted papers should include links to relevant scientific literature in world databases (Web of Science or Scopus) in minimum recommended  3-5 sources. The author should respect STN ISO 690-692 when citing. Footnotes are not accepted. The bibliography should be arranged in alphabetical order, where surname of the author comes first without title, name of the author is written in capital letters. In case, the cited source has no author, the publisher and the year of publication is indicated.  Internet sources should be cited as the following: surname and name of the author, title of the source, date of citation and URL (e.g. http://www.selyeuni.sk/ef). Citations in the work are submitted by the reference to the bibliography where the surname(s) of the author(s) and the year of publication is indicated in parenthesis. If the author’s name is included in the sentence the year of publication should be indicated in parenthesis following the sentence. Two or more works by the same author(s) published in the same year are indicated by adding “a”, “b”, “c” for the year of publication. In case of more than three authors appendix “and col./et al” is included.

Correspondence address – include name, surname and titles of the first author, correspondence address and e-mail.

Language

Submissions published in Slovak, Czech or Hungarian languages have to respect the language law. Abstracts in English have to follow the rules of British English. Name of certain products should begin with capital letters and should indicate the name and address of the producer. If the product has a registered trademark it should be indicated. Beside frequent abbreviations can be used the abbreviations by the author if they are clearly explained.

The pages of manuscript are not numbered. Modifications of journal template are not allowed, manuscript of the author will be sent back. Manuscript corrections are sent back on the address of the publisher within 7 days. Changes influencing the content of original manuscript are not allowed.
